Trigger is really important

I have been thinking about to say about Triggers so long before. Finally, get a good time and stuff to share here. Of course HOOKED helps me know more about how to make habit forming products. Here I am putting my thoughts from all I read about a model demonstrated in a book.

First thing first, what is a trigger in the general term? Trigger we mean by is kind of a spark for a person something to relate or remember and do. Means trigger gives a person an alarm to do something. We will discuss the first Trigger and then how that helps business today.

Same way in a product design triggers used. Triggers help products to get user's attention for anything it is expected to have. Let’s take an example of a job, some one time moment or a life event. Everyone has an appropriate trigger for that to do on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.

Triggers can be performed internally, externally and also a combination of both sometimes. What I mean by that is triggers are just an initiator of some action we want a user to do. That’s why it is not necessary to be done only from the user own thinking. There is a way to do externally.

As per example, we can consider a google ad, email inbox, Facebook messages, app icons from installed apps list in a phone, banner, hoardings, etc. Those all are external triggers where a user didn’t think from their own and they got to know out of their thinking. Research founds that is not a convenient way to get user and also it has very low CLTV ( Customer Lifetime Value).

Whereas internal triggers are just like a formed habit. In another way when a person does something subconsciously, it is called an internal trigger by what he did something. An internal trigger is the most efficient way for a product to create a good habit for its users. Internally formed habits take a long time to go and that gives goof CLTV to a product.

As per example lets take the example of Instagram and think about your use of the application. When you see something happening or you went somewhere or even you have any life event, you not really want to miss out. That is your fear and to overtake it you want to put it somewhere and would be able to catch up again whenever you want. That Instagram solved soooooooo well I would say.

In fact in that context google photos also do the same thing. But the product has value when it solves problems and also adds a pretty good value to the solution provided. So that Instagram made a social community where people can follow and share things and show their view on another post.

In today's world, I believe every single digital product should learn first about this entire hooked model and then start to think about build a product or a business. Cause when you first think about your customer acquisition and then build a system for that I am sure that will help you in the longer run. That will sure save a lot of your rework time on a rearrangement of things or rework.

Again saying I am very much inspired by the HOOKED book. And that inspiration helps me to write things about it along with my views. I would be happy to have your inputs on this and would be more happier to have your claps :)
